Growth of Gallium Oxide Nanowires by Pulsed Laser Deposition

چکیده
We report on the synthesis of gallium oxide nanowires by pulsed laser deposition using a gold catalyst. In the vapor-liquid-solid process, gold thickness was the crucial parameter for deciding the morphology of nanowires. In the case of 1 nm thick gold, homogeneous nanowire growth was confirmed at temperatures of 700 ̊C to 850 ̊C. Transmission electron microscopy and selected area electron diffraction measurements showed that the nanowires were polycrystalline. In the cathode luminescence spectra, UV, blue, green and red emission peaks were observed, as reported in previous studies. As growth temperature was increased, the relative intensities of blue, green, and red emissions decreased. Thermal annealing treatments were effective in decreasing the blue, green and red emission peaks, suggesting that these emission peaks were associated with oxygen vacancies.

Gallium nitride ~GaN! thin films with a wurtzite structure were grown on fused silica ~FS! substrates by pulsed laser ablation of a liquid gallium target in the presence of ammonia gas. X-ray diffraction measurement shows a single c-axis orientation for the GaN film grown with a thin ~,1000 Å! zinc oxide ~ZnO! film as an alignment layer. There is a great improvement in the surface morphology as...
متن کاملPLD-Assisted VLS Growth of Aligned Ferrite Nanorods, Nanowires, and NanobeltssSynthesis, and Properties
We report here a systematic synthesis and characterization of aligned R-Fe2O3 (hematite), -Fe2O3, and Fe3O4 (magnetite) nanorods, nanobelts, and nanowires on alumina substrates using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method. The presence of spherical gold catalyst particles at the tips of the nanostructures indicates selective growth via the vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) mechanism. Through a series of...
متن کاملSynthesis of Serrated GaN Nanowires for Hydrogen Gas Sensors Applications by Plasma-Assisted Vapor Phase Deposition Method
Nowadays, the semiconductor nanowires (NWs) typically used in hydrogen gas sensors. Gallium nitride (GaN) with a wide band gap of 3.4 eV, is one of the best semiconductors for this function. NWs surface roughness have important role in gas sensors performance. In this research, GaN NWs have been synthesized on Si substrate by plasma-assisted vapor phase deposition at different deposition time, ...

Semiconductor nanowires have received increasing focus from researchers due to their one dimensional characteristics, which offer new horizons for device designs. Nanowire growth has been shown to yield crystalline material on non-lattice matched substrates. Concerning gallium nitride nanowires, common growth substrates have been silicon (100) and (111) substrates. This manuscript discusses the...

Here, a new method is demonstrated that uses sideways pulsed laser deposition to deliberately bend nanowires into a desired shape after growth and fabricate arc-shaped composite nanowire arrays of a wide range of nanomaterials. The starting nanowires can be ZnO, but the materials to be deposited can be metallic, semiconductor, or ceramic depending on the application. This method provides a gene...
